Lady Blackouts Rise Through the Ranks

Lady Blackouts girls’ flag football team post for picture

When the Lady Blackouts took the field this spring, they represented much more than a football team. They represented the growing future of girls' athletics.

The program wrapped up an outstanding season with 70 girls participating, a powerful reminder that when young women are given the opportunity to compete, they rise to the occasion. Earlier this summer, many girls gathered for tryouts for spots on tournament and league teams, showcasing dedication, teamwork and determination. We were excited to attend and witness their hard work firsthand.

As the season continued, the momentum only grew. Through additional support of the SDM Rising Youth Athletics Foundation, girls from the 8U, 10U and 12U teams traveled to compete in a tournament in Pflugerville, Texas. Families, coaches and players worked together to make the trip possible. Including organizing a popcorn fundraiser, demonstrating the team's commitment.

For these athletes, every practice, tournament and team huddle is about more than flag football. It is about building confidence, developing leadership skills, and creating opportunities that extend beyond the field.
